Deloitte to bring back in-person interviews?

Deloitte Resumes Face-to-Face Graduate Interviews in the UK
Deloitte has decided to return to in-person interviews for its UK graduate and apprenticeship programs, following concerns raised by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) about the risk of cheating in online recruitment tests.
The switch back to face-to-face interviews will begin in September, after the firm had moved to an entirely virtual recruitment process during the pandemic.
The FRC's recent review highlighted potential risks in Deloitte's online recruitment approach, contrasting it with the efforts made by rivals EY, KPMG, and PwC to mitigate cheating through in-person assessments.
The regulator emphasized that cheating undermines the integrity of the profession and has been a persistent issue across accounting firms, with all Big Four firms, including Deloitte, having faced fines for exam misconduct in recent years.
Deloitte noted that while initial application stages will remain virtual, final-stage interviews will now be conducted in person, providing candidates with a better sense of the firm’s work environment and culture.
The rise of generative AI has further heightened concerns about cheating, prompting the FRC to collaborate with audit firms to enhance monitoring and detection systems.
